Overview

The Quorn School Community Fund (QSCF) provides schools throughout the UK with the opportunity to apply for cash funding for health, food, environmental & sustainability projects.

From food technology equipment, sports team sponsorship or bug boxes to promote local ecology; project ideas are allocated different prize fund levels depending on their potential value to the local community.

In order to deliver this funding in an efficient and manageable way, Quorn Foodservice required a digital solution that would allow schools to easily submit funding applications whilst giving the Quorn team the ability to process the applications and showcase winning ideas.

The Idea

Prior to starting the project, there was no visual identity in place for the QSCF, therefore our starting point was to develop an ownable style in house. The aim of the identity was to maintain the important elements of the Foodservice brand whilst also injecting a softer, distinct community feel.

The digital solution needed to be flexible enough to adapt to each stage of the application process. Initially that was schools applying for funding, followed by a public vote for the best projects, including the ability to share votes via social media. Once shortlisted, projects were then evaluated by a panel of respected, independent school food industry experts.

Following the judging phase, the winning projects needed to be displayed on the website in a visually engaging way. Another consideration was subsequently providing a platform for the winning schools to share their project progress.

The Outcome

The resulting hand-drawn illustration style is one that can flex and adapt as part of a wider QSCF identity. This has been applied not only digitally but also to offline assets, including printed guides.

Our digital solution, utilising Contentful, allows the Quorn Foodservice team to manage each step of the application process from a single intuitive interface. The process has been developed with the future in mind and can easily be repurposed for further funding projects for Quorn Foodservice and the QSCF.
