Cauldron Foods' stunning new rebrand inspired the creation of a beautifully redesigned digital experience.

Founded in 1980, Cauldron Foods specialises in plant-based foods such as tofu, falafel, sausages, and other meat alternatives.

Following an extensive rebrand, Anything was tasked with designing and creating a fresh digital experience that would make Cauldron stand out online just as much as its new packaging does in stores.

Challenge

The existing website, was outdated and struggled with poor Core Web Vitals performance. Cauldron required a modern, easily manageable platform that would be future-proof.

  • Cauldron's legacy CMS, offered limited functionality and made it challenging to onboard new team members.
  • The tech stack was a traditional setup, with the CMS closely tied to the front-end code, making a complete rebrand challenging.
  • The mobile experience didn’t meet the now required standards and received particularly low scores on Core Web Vitals.
  • Cauldron aimed to boost organic search traffic using structured data, but the existing setup made this challenging.
  • The website needed to be hosted on always-on dedicated servers, which conflicted with Cauldron's sustainability goals.

Solution

Anything transformed the stunning new offline brand identity into a beautifully crafted digital design system, which became the foundation for building a future-proof and sustainable digital platform.

A future-proof digital experience:

  • The solution was centered around the Headless CMS, Contentful. Since Marlow Foods, the parent company of Cauldron, was already deeply invested in this CMS, it made sense to transition Cauldron to the same familiar platform.
  • The outdated monolithic architecture was upgraded to a modern tech stack using Svelte, Inertia, and a Laravel backend. This new setup decoupled the front-end code from the CMS and functionality, making future design changes simple and efficient.
  • The new platform laid the foundation for extensive SEO optimisation, including support for structured data and achieving optimal Core Web Vitals.
  • The always on dedicated servers were replaced with an Edge Cloud based solution. This approach automatically distributes the website's code across the globe, eliminating the need for a single, centralized location. As a result, the website delivers lightning-fast performance no matter where you access it from, while also ensuring maximum resilience with no single point of failure.
  • As well as a best in class mobile experience, a new set of CRM templates was developed, providing a consistent experience directly to users' email inboxes.

Sustainability

In addition to delivering a stunning, robust and future proof solution, we were committed to building a website with sustainability at its core. To align with this brands ethos, we transitioned from always-on dedicated servers to a Cloud based approach, significantly reducing the website's carbon footprint.
